EnviroTech - Enhancing Environmental & Technological Literacy
EnviroTech is a professional development project intended for practicing technology teachers. Sponsored by the Department of Technology at Ball State University, EnviroTech is made possible through a grant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the advisory support of East Central Indiana Solid Waste District and BSU's Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management. During the Spring of 2009, twenty teachers are participating in online webinars with experts to learn about the impacts of technology on the environment, solid waste, and mercury pollution. Eventually, teachers will deliver a learning experience with their students which will examine two essential questions:

  1. How might replacing incandescent lamps with compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) impact the environment and society?
  2. What strategies might individuals and communities use to reduce the negative impacts of replacing incandescents with CFLs?
